A Nelson distiller has hatched his own recipe for the notorious spirit absinthe, known as the Green Fairy, with ingredients straight from his own garden.

Since August last year, Liquid Alchemy’s owner Jurgen Voigtlander has been perfecting his absinthe creation, and at batch number five, he is “very pleased” with the outcome.

With a strong flavour of aniseed, Voigtlander’s absinthe is made from several ingredients including wormwood from his garden, fennel, anise, lemon balm, lavender, citrus, rose petal, rosemary and mint.
